Philosophy

We are shepherds of your hard-earned assets.  We research our investment choices meticulously.

Torii® Asset Management considers their clients’ stocks much like a farmer considers their crops.  Individual stock values fluctuate just as crop prices fluctuate with the market.  The daily value of the whole of your portfolio does not reflect your wealth.

Wealth of a stock portfolio grows like the value of a farm. Like a farmer, the portfolio manager must think about the climate, the stocks that are chosen to take root, the time to buy and sell, and the reserves to maintain in preparation for unforeseen events. Our goal is to choose investments with high growth potential while keeping a keen eye on risk. These may often be micro, small or mid-cap stocks with a strong growth horizon.

To evaluate a portfolio and a portfolio manager, one should ask what percentage of the portfolio is exposed to the market, how diversified are the stocks owned, and what is the investment selection process.

Though the market value may fluctuate daily, the consistent nature of a well-balanced portfolio may resist declines in bad times and potentially grow strategically in good times.

Torii Asset Management asks you, the investor, to judge their performance by how they preserve and grow your wealth over time.  We hope our clients are thinking about long-term disciplined growth rather than short-term profit.  Ask yourself if you want your portfolio to be well-positioned for the current market climate.  If you do, we believe you will find our approach to investing consistent with your own.

We implement a growth style with an attention to risk.

We want to protect your hard-earned assets and prefer to give up a short-term opportunity rather than enter a high risk or uncertain situation. This could mean taking profits, raising a cash position, or adding defensive investments.

We do not limit your opportunities.

We search the world to identify companies which are poised for growth rather than buying a “story.” After a company is identified we invest based on a reasonable price relative to their growth potential.

We strive to protect your assets if we see market conditions deteriorating.

We use an objective method to monitor equity exposure levels and employ a vast network of seasoned industry professionals to keep us current in all segments of the market.

We also design fixed income portfolios to balance risk.

We strive to construct fixed income portfolios to balance risk and take into account inflationary or deflationary pressures.

We are efficient.

We have a streamlined decision-making process that provides for clear, decisive and timely actions.

We have over 30 years of experience managing portfolios that we’re proud of.
